The Author Behind D Lovell Books

About D Lovell

D Lovell is a multi-genre author who writes fiction that refuses to stay in its lane—stories driven by flawed characters, impossible situations that somehow make perfect sense, and emotional truths that linger. Her work spans contemporary, speculative, and dark fiction, united by a fascination with identity, belonging, self-worth, and, in some cases, what it takes to survive systems designed to break you.

She believes the best stories emerge when you stop following rules and start following emotional truth. With sharp dialogue, layered tension, and an occasional dose of humor or heat, she creates worlds where the impossible feels inevitable—and the human cost matters.

She lives in Indianapolis with her Great Dane, Lennox, an ever-expanding collection of drafts and spreadsheets, and an unshakable belief that the stories that shouldn’t work are often the ones worth telling.

"Reading is shaped by two things—stories told and the memories they leave behind.”

This is Lennox, her Great Dane who serves as Chief Morale Officer and Head of Interruptions. He has strong opinions about her writing schedule - mainly that it interferes with his rightful belly rub quota and completely ignores their established playtime schedule. He’ll bark at her to go outside and play even though he KNOWS they have designated play breaks. Despite his professional objections to productivity and complete disregard for time management, he’s an excellent listener during plot brainstorming sessions (though he tends to fall asleep during the boring parts).
